PM Fuel Relief Scheme 2026 Latest Update

The federal government has introduced the scheme after a sharp increase in petrol prices. The relief is designed specifically for users of smaller vehicles and two- and three-wheelers rather than providing a general reduction for every petrol consumer.

Under the latest announced mechanism, eligible beneficiaries receive Rs100 per litre petrol relief. Motorcycles and other eligible two- and three-wheelers can receive subsidized petrol for up to 20 litres per month, while eligible vehicles up to 800cc can receive relief on up to 30 litres per month.

The government has also introduced a digital verification system involving relevant provincial departments, NADRA and telecom operators. Vehicle information is checked electronically before the subsidy is provided.

PM Fuel Relief Scheme 2026 Eligibility

The main eligible categories under the PM Fuel Relief Scheme include:

  • Motorcycles
  • Rickshaws
  • Qingqi rickshaws
  • Other eligible two- and three-wheelers
  • Cars with engine capacity up to 800cc

The subsidy is specifically linked to petrol purchases. Diesel vehicles are not covered under this Rs100-per-litre petrol relief mechanism.

Motorcycle and Three-Wheeler Eligibility

Motorcycle and three-wheeler users can receive relief on up to 20 litres of petrol per month.

An important update is that the government has allowed users of motorcycles and three-wheelers to register, rather than restricting registration only to the person whose name appears as the registered owner. This was introduced because many motorcycles and three-wheelers are used through informal ownership arrangements or open transfer letters.

Cars Up to 800cc

Cars with an engine capacity of 800cc or below are eligible for the petrol subsidy.

For cars, however, the registration requirement is stricter: only the registered vehicle owner can apply for the relief. Eligible car users can receive subsidized petrol on up to 30 litres per month.

PM Fuel Relief Scheme Registration 2026

The government has made PM Fuel Relief Scheme registration available through SMS, so applicants do not initially need to visit a government office.

Applicants need to send the required vehicle and identity information to 9771.

The registration SMS requires:

  1. 13-digit CNIC number
  2. Vehicle registration number
  3. First letter or full name of the province where the vehicle is registered
  4. Vehicle registration date

The CNIC used for registration must be associated with the SIM from which the SMS is sent. The government will verify this information against telecom records.

How to Register for PM Fuel Relief Scheme 2026

Follow these steps for the PM Fuel Relief Scheme registration:

Step 1: Use a SIM Registered in Your Name

The mobile SIM used for registration must be registered against the applicant’s own CNIC.

This requirement is important because the government will verify the applicant’s identity through telecom records.

Step 2: Collect Your Vehicle Information

Before sending the SMS, keep your:

  • CNIC number
  • Vehicle registration number
  • Vehicle registration date
  • Vehicle registration province

ready.

Step 3: Send Registration SMS to 9771

Send the required information to 9771 in the format announced by the government.

The registration information includes the CNIC number, vehicle number, province code or province name and vehicle registration date.

Step 4: Wait for Confirmation

After the information is verified, the applicant receives a confirmation message if the registration is successful.

The government has described registration as a one-time process.

PM Fuel Relief Scheme Token Method

Registration alone does not mean that you can immediately receive discounted petrol.

After successful registration, beneficiaries need to generate a fuel relief token before going to a petrol station.

Send:

TOK

to:

9771

The system will issue a token that can be presented to the petrol station employee for verification.

How Much Petrol Relief Will You Get?

The PM Fuel Relief Scheme provides Rs100 off per litre for eligible petrol purchases.

Vehicle TypeMonthly Petrol LimitRelief Per LitreMaximum Monthly Relief
Motorcycle20 litresRs100Rs2,000
Rickshaw/Qingqi20 litresRs100Rs2,000
Other eligible 2/3-wheelers20 litresRs100Rs2,000
Car up to 800cc30 litresRs100Rs3,000

The maximum monthly relief therefore reaches Rs2,000 for eligible two- and three-wheelers and Rs3,000 for eligible cars up to 800cc, provided the full monthly quota is used.

How to Get Subsidized Petrol After Registration

The government has divided the process into two stages: registration and fuel-token generation.

For motorcycles and three-wheelers, the token can be generated for 5 litres at a time, giving a Rs500 discount on that transaction.

For eligible cars, the token can cover 10 litres, providing a Rs1,000 discount on that transaction.

Business Recorder also reported that motorcycle users can access the subsidy once a week, while car users can claim it once every 10 days under the announced token mechanism.

PM Fuel Relief Scheme 2026 Registration Province

When entering the province in the registration SMS, applicants should use the province where the vehicle is registered.

This is different from the applicant’s domicile or current residential province.

For example, if a person lives in Punjab but their vehicle is registered in another province, the vehicle’s registration province should be provided in the application. The government says this helps distinguish vehicle records because similar registration numbers can exist under different provincial excise systems.

As of September 15, 2026, the latest information confirms that the scheme is being rolled out through a digital SMS-based system.

The government has allocated significant resources for the programme. Petroleum Minister Ali Pervaiz Malik said the government expects to provide around Rs25 billion per month for the fuel relief scheme.

The government has also said that the system will continue to be monitored and improved as implementation expands. Technical and procedural issues may therefore be addressed during the rollout.

PM Fuel Relief Scheme Scam Warning

Applicants should be careful when searching for PM Fuel Relief Scheme registration online.

The government has specifically warned citizens that officials will not ask beneficiaries to pay a registration fee or provide money in exchange for approval.

People should also be cautious about anyone requesting an OTP, additional codes, passwords, bank details or other personal information while claiming to process the petrol subsidy. The IT minister said the government would not contact beneficiaries through phone calls, WhatsApp or SMS to demand money or additional information.

The scheme is intended to provide targeted petrol relief to people using motorcycles, three-wheelers and small cars at a time when fuel prices have placed additional pressure on household and transport expenses.
