LAHORE – January 10, 2026: The Government of Punjab has extended the winter vacations across all public and private schools in the province following the forecast of intense cold weather.
The latest notification issued by the School Education Department confirms that the winter break will now continue until January 17, 2026 (Saturday). Educational institutions are scheduled to resume classes from January 19, 2026 (Monday).
The decision was finalized after a special meeting headed by Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat, where meteorological experts briefed authorities about the expected weather conditions. The government stated that the step has been taken to protect students and school staff from harsh weather and health risks.
Government Directs Schools to Follow Orders
District Education Authorities across Punjab have been instructed to ensure complete implementation of the notification. Any school failing to follow the orders will face administrative consequences, according to the notification.
